ABiZ Cargo Limited ("ABiZ Cargo", "we", "our", or "us") is an air cargo logistics company registered in Tanzania, facilitating freight forwarding and tracking services between Tanzania and international destinations, including China. We operate the ABiZ Cargo mobile application and related web services (collectively, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the choices you have. By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Scope of this Policy
This policy applies to all users of the ABiZ Cargo mobile app and website — including customers, warehouse staff, and cargo agents in Tanzania and partner organisations in China.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Account registration: Full name, email address, phone number, password, and company name.
- Booking & shipment details: Consignor/consignee names, cargo descriptions, declared values, origin and destination addresses.
- Identity verification: Government-issued identification (where required by customs or applicable law).
- Support communications: Messages, attachments, and metadata you share when contacting our support team.
- Payment information: Billing name, contact details, and transaction references. Full payment card data is processed directly by our payment processor; we do not store raw card numbers.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Device & usage data: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, app version, and crash reports.
- Log data: IP addresses, access timestamps, pages visited, and features used within the app.
- Location data: Approximate location derived from IP address. Precise GPS location is only collected with your explicit consent, typically for real-time shipment tracking.
- Push notification tokens: To deliver shipment status alerts to your device.
Information from Third Parties
- Airlines & freight partners: Flight manifest data, customs clearance statuses, and cargo delivery confirmations.
- Chinese partner agents: Shipper details and cargo origination information required for air waybills.
- Analytics providers: Aggregated, anonymised usage data to help us improve our Services.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
- Process cargo bookings, generate air waybills, and coordinate freight movement.
- Provide real-time shipment tracking and push notifications.
- Comply with Tanzanian customs regulations, TCAA requirements, and applicable anti-money-laundering obligations.
- Communicate important service updates, billing information, and support responses.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activity.
- Improve and personalise our Services based on aggregated usage patterns.
- Meet our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Legal basis (where applicable)
Processing is based on contract performance (providing the Services you requested), legal obligation (customs and aviation regulations), legitimate interests (fraud prevention, service improvement), and — where required — your consent.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers
We engage trusted third-party providers to operate our Services, including cloud hosting (Firebase / Google Cloud), payment processors, push-notification platforms, and analytics tools. These providers are contractually bound to process data only on our instructions and to maintain appropriate security standards.
Logistics & Customs Authorities
Cargo shipment data — including shipper/consignee names, goods descriptions, and declared values — is shared with airlines, ground handlers, Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), and equivalent authorities in destination countries as required by law.
Business Partners in China
To facilitate origin-side operations, relevant shipment and contact data is shared with our accredited freight-forwarding partners in China under data processing agreements that require them to maintain security measures consistent with this policy.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of ABiZ Cargo, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers
If ABiZ Cargo is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
International Transfers
Our Services involve the transfer of personal data between Tanzania and other countries, including China and the United States (where our cloud infrastructure is located). When transferring data internationally, we implement appropriate safeguards, including:
- Contractual clauses requiring recipient parties to protect data to standards consistent with this policy.
- Use of cloud infrastructure providers (Google Cloud Platform) with internationally recognised security certifications.
- Minimisation of data transferred — we share only what is strictly necessary for the logistics operation.
Note on Chinese data recipients
Data shared with partner agents in China is limited to the cargo and contact details required to process your shipment. Recipients are required to use that data solely for cargo processing purposes.
Data Security
We implement technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest for sensitive fields.
- Firebase Authentication with secure session token management.
- Role-based access controls limiting employee access to data on a need-to-know basis.
- Regular security assessments and dependency updates.
- Incident response procedures to detect and respond to data breaches promptly.
No security measure is perfect. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, please contact us immediately.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our Services and fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy, subject to the following considerations:
- Account data: Retained for the duration of your account and up to 3 years after account closure, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Shipment & customs records: Retained for a minimum of 7 years in compliance with Tanzanian tax and customs legislation.
- Support communications: Retained for 2 years from the date of resolution.
- App usage logs: Retained in aggregated form for up to 12 months; raw logs for up to 90 days.
When retention periods expire, data is securely deleted or anonymised.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data where we no longer have a lawful basis to retain it.

- Withdrawal of consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

Children's Privacy

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via the app, by email, or by posting a prominent notice on our website — with at least 14 days' notice before the changes take effect. The updated date at the top of this page always reflects when the policy was last revised.
Continued use of our Services after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
